AN OUTLINE OF AN EXPECTED COURSE OF EVENTS OF THE MILLENNIUMIN

THE NEW JERUSALEM OR NEW HEAVEN ( Rev, 21:1-22:5)

We have now come to the final revelation given to us in Holy Scripture , a glorious climax to all that God has inspired men to write for the edification of His people throughout the ages. In this passage we move from time to eternity. Sin, death, and all the forces antagonistic to God are now forever put away.

( Revelation 21:1-2) John said-"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first  heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City , the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband". The scripture clearly teaches that this present  order of creation is to pass away in order to make for a new heaven and new earth. The Lord  Jesus himself  said, " Heaven and Earth shall pass away ----". (Matt. 24:35).  Also, it will be destroyed so that it may be cleansed from all the effects of sins  ( 2 Pet. 3: 7,10,12).

THE NEW JERUSALEM WILL BE THE RESIDENCE OF THE CHURCH.

(1.) It will be the abode of all the new testament saints ( Hebrew 12:22-24).

(2.) It will be the abode of the bride of  Christ ( Rev.21:9-10).

(3.) During the millennium the new Jerusalem ( described in detail in Rev. 21:9-22:5) apparently will be suspended over the earth. And it will be the dwelling place of all believers during eternity (as is emphasized  in Rev. 21:1-8) .

(4.) Also, Christ, before His departure from His disciples He said in ( John 14:2)-" In my Father's house  are many mansions : If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you ". This is a confirmation from Jesus Himself that all believers are going to have  mansions, as their residences, in new Jerusalem or new heaven.

THE DWELLING PLACE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT SAINTS.

The dwelling place of the old testament saints will be in the new earth as God promised  to King David that He will established His kingdom on earth forever (2 Sam. 7:1-17). David's zeal for the Lord is evidenced by his desire to build a temple to house the Ark (2 Sam. 7:2). David was denied his request to build a house for the Lord, but God promise instead that He will build a house for David , A Dynasty,  (2 Sam. 7:11) .

GOD MADE A COVENANT WITH DAVID (2 Sam. 7:12-16)

This great covenant that God graciously made with David included the following provisions:

(1.) David would have a son who would succeed him and established his kingdom ( V. 12),

(2.) The son ( Solomon ),rather than David, would build the temple (V.13 a).

(3.) The throne of Solomon 's kingdom will be established forever (V.13 b)

(4.) Though David 's sins justified chastening , God 's  love would be forever (V.14-15)

(5.) David's house, kingdom, and throne would be established forever (V. 16). The covenant did not guarantee uninterrupted rule by David's family (and, in fact, the Babylonian exile interrupted it ), but the covenant did promise that the right to rule would always remains with David's dynasty. Jesus Christ is the ultimate fulfillment of these promise.

(Luke 1:31-33)  says - " You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the most high. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father DAVID and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever : His kingdom will never end ".

Although at this present time He is not ruling from the throne of David ( Hebrew 12:2), At His second coming He will assume His throne. ( Amos .9:11) says-" In that day I will restore David's fallen tent. I will repair its broken places, restore its ruins, and build it as it used to be." In that day- the aspect of the day of the Lord known as the millennium . David's fallen tent- the dynasty of David though humbled for a time, will be reinstated to rule over all the world ( V. 12). ; See also Acts 15:15-17.

( Amos 9:13-15) - the millennial kingdom will be characterized by Fertility ( V.13), Prosperity (V.14), and Security ( V.15) with Israel permanently possessing the promise land to Abraham in ( Gen.15:18-21) .

During the millennium , the tribulation saints and the old testament saints will, evidently, reign on this earth with Christ. I believe that David will be his vicegerent. The Church, which is the bride of Christ, will reside in the new Jerusalem where she reigns with Christ from that exalted place and, I believe, over a great deal of God's creation. Christ  will commute from the new Jerusalem  to the old Jerusalem on this earth. And I suppose that the Church also will travel back and forth between its heavenly home and the earth.( See Acts.1: 9-11).

Multitudes of both Israel and the gentiles will enter the kingdom in natural bodies, not having died. These are the ones, together with those who are born during the millennium, who are tested during this millennial period. As Christ in a glorified body mingled with His apostles and followers, so the Church in  glorified bodies will mingle with multitudes in their natural bodies here on the earth. In glorified bodies , the Church will be able to move out into space. Gravitation will not be able to grab  and pull us back to the earth in that day. We can also travel the universe in an unbelievable speed If we wish,

Jesus with His resurrected body can pass through a wall ( John 20:26) say's-"-----.Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said , peace with you". If Jesus can pass through a wall with  His resurrected body, we can do the same thing with our resurrected body. I believe we can do many unusual things with our resurrected body. We can enjoy traveling to see different planets and places in the universe by flying or maybe we can be in one place in a split second if we wish.
