What is the Unpardonable Sin?

Jesus said in (Mark 3:28-29)- " I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; He is guilty of an eternal sin." He (Jesus) said this because they ( The Pharisees) were saying ," He (Jesus) has an evil spirit " ( V 30). Technically, according to the scribes, blasphemy involved direct and explicit abuse of the divine name. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the act of  slandering, reviling, speaking maliciously against the spirit.

For such a sin there is never any forgiveness. But that was the UNPARDONABLE SIN THEN. It could not be committed TODAY IN THAT WAY. Why? To begin with, they have Jesus, the second person of the Godhead, present with them, and they accused Him of casting out demons by BEELZEBUB  when He is doing it by the power of the Holy Spirit. So they were actually rejecting the works of two persons of the Godhead, the testimony of the son and testimony of the Holy Spirit. They were expressing an attitude of UNBELIEF, which was PERMANENT REJECTION OF CHRIST. They were RESISTING THE HOLY SPIRIT. That was UNPARDONABLE SIN.

It is IMPOSSIBLE TO COMMIT AN UNPARDONABLE SIN TODAY- IF BY THAT YOU MEAN  one can commit a sin today, and he comes under conviction because of it,tomorrow,he comes to God in repentance and God would not forgive him. You see, Christ died for all sin, not just some sin. He did not die for all sin but one, the unpardonable sin. There is no such thing as being able to commit a sin today that God will not forgive. The ATTITUDE and STATE of the unbeliever  is UNPARDONABLE - NOT THE ACT .When a man BLASPHEMES WITH HIS MOUTH, that is not the thing that condemns him ; IT IS THE ATTITUDE OF HIS HEART , WHICH IS  A PERMANENT CONDITION- UNLESS HE STOPS RESISTING. This is the sin against the Holy Spirit: TO RESIST THE CONVICTING WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE HEART AND LIFE.

There is no sin committed yesterday that the Lord would not forgive today because He died for all sin. The Holy Spirit came into the world to make real the salvation of Christ to the hearts of men. If you resist the working of the spirit of God when He speaks to you, then, there is no forgiveness for you. There is no forgiveness because you have rejected salvation made real to you by the Holy Spirit. And it is the work of the spirit of God to regenerate you. There is no act of sin that you could commit for which there is no forgiveness. Of course, if you resist the Holy Spirit, there is no forgiveness because He is bringing forgiveness. It is like the man who is dying from a certain disease, and the doctor tells him there is a remedy for it. The man refuses to take the remedy and dies, not from the desease but from refusing to take the remedy. There is a remedy for the  desease of sin, and the Holy Spirit applies it; but if you resist it, there is no remedy. That is the only way sin can be UNPARDONABLE TODAY.

Somebody may ask, what about the people who will receive the mark of the beast, by force, in ( revelation 13:16) - will they be saved? My answer is "YES" - To those who will truly repent and believe in their heart that Christ is the son of God who died for our sins, was buried, and on the third day rose again and is now seating at the right hand of the father as the mediator between God and man. Read also (1 Tim.2:5-6). Receiving the mark of the beast is not  an unpardonable sin. It cannot overpower our omnipotent God. It cannot overpower what Christ has done for our salvation. It cannot overpower the love of God for His chosen people to be saved.

In revelation 7, we are told that God will redeem 144,000 Jews from the twelve tribes (12,000 each ) who are protected in order to perform some service for God during these days. Perhaps they are evangelist. Also a great multitude composed of many racial and geographic groups will be redeem during the tribulation period (rev.7:14) .

I truly believe, the only people WHO WILL NOT BE REDEEMED ARE THOSE PEOPLE WHO WORSHIP THE BEAST TO THE END, THOSE WHO KEEP RESISTING THE CONVICTING WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. (Rev.14:9-12) says- ".....If any one WORSHIP THE BEAST AND HIS IMAGE AND RECEIVES HIS MARK ON THE FOREHEAD----he will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the Holy angels and of the lamb ----". This means that any one who worship the beast and receive his mark and keeps resisting the convicting work of the holy spirit will not be saved because he is committing the UNPARDONABLE SIN by resisting the convicting work of the Holy Spirit.
